James and FOUR19 hit with killer postmod riffs, groovy hip hop-flavored beats and mainstream melodic sensibilities.
Highly respected for his distinct bass playing styles and more, the pro bass guitarist and drummer caught a break recording with rock/ska legends Fishbone, which led to tours and more work with signed acts like alt rock-pop artist Cree Summer and the notorious all-star band Trulio Disgracias. Trulio brought James many golden opportunities to open for diverse celebrated, acts as Public Enemy and icon Etta James, and led to a fulltime drum seat with Capitol/EMI band Spearhead. James also co-wrote and played bass guitar on the band's "Hole in the Bucket" radio single.
After three successful years touring the globe with Spearhead, which brought such highlights as opening for legends R.E.M. and Cypress Hill, James began to see a vision and create songs for his own band FOUR19.
